Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, Tony Vaughn’s career as a professional bassist, song writer and producer, extends over more than a 25-year period with national and international credits. He has, and continues to perform both live and in the studio with many R&B, Soul, Jazz, Rock and country artists. He is well known for his ability to find the heart of any groove and for his sense of where and when to place his style bass solos. He has also been featured as an actor in supporting roles on various television shows while living in Japan.
In New York and holding the Bass Chair with Millie Jackson, known for her multi-million seller “If Loving You Is Wrong I Don’t Won’t To Be Right”, and many other hits over the years. Tony has played in studios all over the world, to include Japan, London, New York, Boston, The Carolinas, Los Angeles and many more.
His concert credits include: The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Ohio Players, Natalie Cole, Richard Pryor, James Brown, Rob Monsey of Carly Simon, B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, The Manhattans, The Whispers, Steve Wright Band, Jackie Wilson, and multiple tours in the now historical Chilin’ Circuit!
The LA / Boston sessions for CBS and RCA, while holding the Bass Chair for The Ellis Hall Group included: Tom Scott, Brecker Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fires horn section, Norman Connors and countless up and coming artist. Concerts during this period included The Cars, The Average White Band, Tower Of Power and many more.
Tony is currently writing and recording original music and playing live concerts and continues to be available for tour dates and recordings in studio and/or virtually.
